Course Descriptions for the Division of Missions
MI1102 Introduction to Missions [2 Credits]
This course outlines the Biblical basis for missions and introduces the student to the idea of missions culture. A brief introduction to the history of missions will also be given.
MI2202 Cross-Cultural Evangelism [2 Credits]
Knowing how to evangelize outside our own culture is essential to being an effective witness. This course will look at ways to communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ in cultures that might be foreign to us.
MI1213 Missions Strategy [3 Credits]
This course will describe the new and used methods of missions strategy. A strategy on the missions field is a vital part of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the fullest.
MI2303 Missions Application [2 Credits]
This course will introduce the student to the physical, mental, and spiritual challenges of life on the mission field. Attention will be given to individual proportion for the student’s missionary call. Prerequisite: MI1213
MI2312 Missions Preparation and Focus [2 Credits]
This course will help prepare the student for the mission field with specific cultural and historical studies, financial support, as well as spiritual and mental preparation. This course is the stepping stone for the Missions Internship III. Prerequisite: MI1213
MI3512 Missions Internship I [2 Credits]
This team mission trip of at least 10 days should help the student become aware of the spiritual and physical needs of people from other cultures while working with other people on their team. The student's team mission trip must be approved by the Dean of Missions. This internship will also include a mission evaluation report and required reading.
MI3522 Missions Internship II [2 Credits]
This team mission trip of at least 10 days should help the student become aware of the difference between leading and participating in a team mission trip. This internship requires the student to lead or co-lead a missionary team of at least 8 persons. The student's team mission trip must be approved by the Dean of Missions. This internship will also include a mission evaluation report and required reading. Prerequisite: MI3512
MI3534 Missions Internship III [4 Credits]
The goal of this mission trip of at least 180 days is to place the student on the mission field with support and accountability. This internship requires a missionary mentor who must be approved by the Dean of Missions. This internship will also include a weekly journal, a completion interview with the Dean of Missions and a action plan report.
Prerequisite: MI2312, MI3522, and 90% of program completion
