Sarasota Bible College offers two levels of certification, a Certificate in Christian Ministry and our Diploma Programs. Please note the descriptions for each below. Liscensing and ordination is also available to qualifying students through Fellowship of Ministers International.
CERTIFICATE OF CHRISTIAN MINISTRY
The Certificate in Christian Ministry is awarded to the student who completes this two year program. The certificate involves 1.5 years of classroom training plus a 6 month internship. Through classroom study and hands-on application, the training and equipping achieved will prepare the student for lay ministry positions in a local church as well as be the foundation for future full-time ministry.
DIPLOMA PROGRAMS
After completing the requirements for the Certificate in Christian Ministry, the student may elect to continue advanced studies with the goal of obtaining a diploma that may be used for full-time ministry. This requires an additional year of studies for a total of 3 years. The two diploma tracts are:
Diploma of Christian Ministry
The Diploma of Christian Ministry is for those who elect to obtain training and experience to be used as an effective minister of the gospel. Possible applications of this course of study include ministries such as the Pastorate, Youth, Children, Teaching, Evangelism, Worship, or Intercession.
Diploma of Missionary Studies
The Diploma of Missionary Studies is essential for all those seeking to serve full-time on the mission field, whether that field is in the United States or overseas.
LISCENSING AND ORDINATION
Upon completion of either Diploma program and a proven time of ministry, the student may be eligible for licensing through the Fellowship of Ministers International (FMI)*. Then on a case by case basis FMI may grant ordination after a period of continued and fruitful ministry. FMI has a long history of ordaining ministers since 1944.
