Course Descriptions for the

Division of Social Studies

 

SS1102 Leadership Skills [2 Credits]

This course is designed to help the student learn the leadership skills that anyone involved in ministry needs to grasp in order to lead people. An effective leader will have an affective team and ministry.

SS3203 World Religions [3 Credits]

Understanding other religions is vital to work in a culture that we are not familiar with. This distance learning course will help the student understand other religions from a Christian point of view with the focus being on evangelism.

SS2212 World Views [2 Credits]

This course will help the student understand the underlying world views that shape and influence our culture. Understanding these views will help the student's awareness of why people respond in certain ways and how to communicate the Gospel of Christ to them.

HI3203 Christian History Overview [3 Credits]

This distance learning course will give the student a basic understanding and knowledge of church history from the time of Christ to the modern church era. This learning is vital in understanding ideas in the church today and the historical influences of what we believe.

HI1212 History of Missions [2 Credits]

This challenging and energizing class will help the student understand the price that missionaries pay to spread the Gospel of Christ. This historical approach to missions is helpful in practical missionary use and cultural understanding.

LA1102 Introduction to Spanish [2 Credits]

This is an introductory class in the Spanish language. Time will be given to the basics of speaking this widely-used language.
